FEEL FOR IT
Feel is golf’s tangible intangible—some- thing important to all players yet diffi- cult to define because everybody has their interpretation. True Temper tries
to address feel with its latest model: the Project X LZ
shaft. The LZ stands for Loading Zone, a technology
that uses variable thickness in the walls of the tip and
butt sections. Tapered steps are also visible from below the grip through the midsection. These steps reduce stiffness in this area, producing enhanced feel,
according to the company. The technology is similar to
that on True Temper’s Hand Crafted LZ graphite shaft.
The new shaft is available to tour pros now, with officials expecting to introduce it at retail later this year.
It will come in five flexes ( 5.0, 5. 5, 6.0, 6. 5 and 7.0) with
weights ranging from 105 grams in the 5.0 to 125 grams
in the 7.0. —E. Michael Johnson
