PROS’ UNUSUAL EQUIPMENT
TOUR PLAYERS CAN be a particular bunch when it comes to equipment, as these photos from recent Golf Digest “What’s In My Bag” shoots demonstrate:
Fred Couples is considered one of the coolest
players in professional golf, but his fairway wood is totally square—as
in Callaway’s FT-i Squareway, a model introduced in 2008.
Thompson’s Akira M117 prototype 5-wood has a small head at 120cc.
If you’re not from the South, you might not recognize the Zaxby’s
logo on Russell Henley’s bag. It’s from a chain restaurant that is known
for chicken. It also has five locations in Athens, Ga. (Henley attended
the University of Georgia.)
Gary Woodland’s Callaway X Hot
3-wood has a steel shaft because Woodland hits the ball too far with
a graphite shaft.
Lead tape gets the weight right on Charlie Beljan’s
Cleveland 588 MT 4-iron.
Nick Watney’s 55-degree Nike VR Pro
wedge has his nickname engraved on it.
